Deadhead (remove spent blossoms) any flowers that have finished blooming. Many will rebloom again through the summer.

Weeds compete with flowers for space, nutrients and sunlight so pull them regularly. They are easier to remove when small and it disturbs the adjacent plant roots less.
Water deeply (soak several inches into the soil) but infrequently (let the top layer dry before watering again). This encourages the plants' roots to grow downward and help plants stay alive during the intense heat of the summer.

If you prefer to start you flowers and herbs from seeds directly, they are available (at no cost) at the Marlton Seed Exchange counter at the Evesham Library. Selection changes based on the season (and availability). Check it out!
