❄️ ACTION ITEMS FOR DECEMBER GARDENING
1. Plant Amaryllis/Paperwhites
Start these festive bulbs indoors now for beautiful winter blooms and holiday cheer.
2. Mulch Roses and Perennials
Apply a thick layer of mulch to insulate roots, protecting them from freeze/thaw cycles and "heaving."
3. Protect Tender Plants
Cover sensitive or marginally hardy shrubs with burlap or straw to guard against frost and cold winds.
4. Prune Deciduous Trees
Prune dormant trees while leaves are off. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches to improve structure.
5. Clean and Store Tools
Clean, sharpen, and oil all garden tools before storing them to prevent rust and ensure readiness for spring.
6. Set up Bird Feeders and Water
Provide food and a source of unfrozen water for birds, helping them survive the cold and keeping them active in your garden.
